These two brothers-in-law, Carl Sandburg and Edward Steichen, were kindred spirits. Both believed that art could create and should be used to create social change. They also believed that art should be accessible to every human being, and that the human spirit hungered for it. The goal was the democratization of art, available to all who choose to view or read it.
